To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the New York Virtuoso Singers (NYVS), 25 of America’s leading composers were commissioned to write short works for this elite chorus. Under the stewardship of ASCAP member and 2010 ASCAP Victor Herbert Founder’s Award recipient Harold Rosenbaum, the March 3rd concert further solidified the NYVS’s reputation as a world class ensemble especially committed to commissioning, performing and recording the music of American composers. The first of two concerts was presented back on October 21st, 2012, and among the composers featured were ASCAP members John Corigliano, David Del Tredici, Jennifer Higdon, Fred Lerdahl, George Tsontakis, Shulamit Ran and Chen Yi. The festivities concluded on March 3rd, 2013 with the launching of a second and final round of world premieres from Mark Adamo, David Lang, Thea Musgrave (PRS), and Augusta Read Thomas.
