The ASCAP Pop/Rock crew visited Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback at Conway Studios to celebrate their phenomenal chart success.
Martin (STIM/ASCAP) received three ASCAP #1 plaques for co-writing Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and Katy Perry's "E.T." and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." The latter song was Perry's fifth #1 single from Teenage Dream, which made her the first female artist in history to have five consecutive chart-toppers from the same album. It was also one of ten songs for which Martin was named Songwriter of the Year at the 2012 ASCAP Pop Music Awards.
Shellback (also STIM/ASCAP) earned a #1 plaque for co-writing Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," the fastest-selling single in digital music history. This was one of the songs that contributed to Shellback's top spot on Billboard's Top 10 Songwriters Airplay Chart.
