Each year the ASCAP Women Behind the Music series honors women who have made an impact in all aspects of the music industry. ASCAP celebrated its fourth year of the series with a class of notable honorees from songwriters to executives, alongside equally inspiring performers for three straight nights in three different cities.
On Tuesday October 16th, ASCAP held its first Women Behind the Music event. The Red Bull sponsored soiree was held at New York’s Tenjune, and honorees included the founder of BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. Beverly Bond, Island/Def Jam Music Group Vice-President of Business & Legal Affairs Nicole Wyskoarko and Universal’s Music Publishing Senior Vice President and Co-Head of East Coast Operations Jessica Rivera. The crowd enjoyed music from DJ Fame Cohen along with a special performance by RCA recording artist Sterling Simms.
Bardot Hollywood was on fire on Wednesday October 17th as Epic Recording artist NYLO performed at the second night of ASCAP’s Women Behind the Music series. ASCAP honored singer/songwriter Ledisi, ICM Partners Concerts’ Agent Caroline Yim, FOX Broadcasting Company Vice President of Music and Production On Air Promotion Mamie Coleman and The Recording Academy West Regional Director Lizzy Moore.
Remy Martin V sponsored the Women Behind the Music event in Atlanta on Thursday October 18th at Vanquish. Honorees included B. Lawrence Watkins & Associates Attorney Bernie Lawrence-Watkins, songwriter and recording artist Crystal Nicole and GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter and singer Tameka “Tiny” Harris. R&B singer-songwriter Mylah blessed the crowd with a fantastic performance and V103 Radio Personality & HGTV host Egypt Sherrod moderated the evening.
