For a long time now, ASCAP writer-producer Greg Kurstin has been the guy you go to when you want a little bit of artsy quirk in your pop and vice-versa. He's done it for Lilly Allen and Sia, Mike Posner and Marina and the Diamonds, Donna Summer and Devo; he did it with his '90s band Geggy Tah, and his retro-pop duo the Bird & the Bee with Inara George.
This year, Kurstin's also the guy you go to when you want a #1 record. The same week that his Pink co-write "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" topped the Radio Songs and Adult Pop Songs charts, ASCAP visited Kurstin in his studio to give him a #1 plaque for "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," which Kurstin co-wrote and produced for Kelly Clarkson. The song reigned supreme on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for three weeks in February, eventually becoming the best-selling single ever by an American Idol contestant.
