ASCAP-sponsored Nashville In Napa, held on Saturday, August 11th, 2012 at Baldacci Family Vineyards, supports music education in schools through an annual one-of-a kind music and wine event. Hit Country songwriters and top Napa Valley winemakers came together to celebrate the products of their passion – music and wine – paired with the stories behind their creations. This year's featured songwriters were Jessi Alexander, Dave Berg, Morgane Hayes Stapleton, Eric Paslay, Jon Randall and Chris Stapleton. On Wednesday, August 8th, veteran hitmaker Radney Foster took the stage along with the Silverado Pickups and Striking Matches (Justin Davis and Sarah Zimmermann) to entertain in Grand Ole Opry style at the Napa Valley Opera House.
All proceeds benefited NOTES for EDUCATION, an organization dedicated to the enrichment of children in our communities through arts and literacy. NOTES was founded when Frank Rogers (Nashville producer, co-owner of Sea Gayle Music Publishing and ASCAP hit songwriter) and Debi Cali (Baldacci Family Vineyards General Manager and a Napa Valley winemaker) began to see the similarities between their industries. Often the names of the individuals who write the music or make the wine are unknown and it is only the products of their passion that receive recognition. With the intention of highlighting the entire process of collaboration that is required within these industries and with respect to the inherent necessity to reach out to these communities, NOTES was formed to support arts education for today's youth to ensure the continued development of the artists of tomorrow.
