ASCAP member Chris Glover has been professionally known as Penguin Prison since 2009, when he gained a whole lotta buzz for his remixes for such danceable noteables as Marina and the Diamonds, Passion Pit, Jamiroquai and Goldfrapp. Later that same year, he began writing his own deliriously fun disco/pop music. And he's riding a wave of great press since the release of his eponymous new album (out now on Downtown Records) and its infectious first single, "Don't F**k with My Money" (watch the Occupy Wall Street-themed video here). Glover swung through the ASCAP offices during the band's recent US tour to share his plans for shaking the world's collective bootie. Topics included in our conversation, captured on video above: Chris's unique songwriting process, translating Penguin Prison's music to the stage and the difficulty of releasing a single with an expletive right there in the title.
You can get the extended club mix of "Don't F**k with My Money" for the low, low cost of an e-mail address:
And for all you wary parents out there who want to share the good times with your kiddos, there's a non-explicit radio edit "Don't F**k with My Money" available, too.
