After a long week of politics as usual, the capital city let it all hang out at the ASCAP-sponsored New Noise showcase on February 4th at the Gibson Guitar Showroom in Washington D.C., presented by music website All Things Go. ASCAP band Reptar (alumni of our 2010 CMJ showcase) headlined the show, and what a set it was - the crowd sang along with all of Reptar's rumpshaking, electronicized Afro-disco-dance-pop tunes that we know and love from their 2011 debut EP Oblangle Fizz Y'all, and introduced some new songs from their forthcoming record, too.
The Gibson didn't have a proper stage, but that didn't bother Reptar OR their enthusiastic crowd. Both parties sidled up to one another throughout the set, communing in a spirit of adrenaline-fueled, joy-filled catharsis.
