ASCAP board member and CEO of Carlin America, Caroline Bienstock, along with her mother Miriam and brother Robert, COO of Carlin America, have established a unique new program, The ASCAP Foundation Freddy Bienstock Scholarship and Internship to honor the memory of publishing great, Freddy Bienstock.

Freddy Bienstock dedicated his life to the music industry as a music publishing and record company executive. He founded Carlin America Music Publishing, under its current name in 1995. Their catalog includes more than 100,000 titles spanning a wide variety of musical genres.

The ASCAP Foundation Freddy Bienstock Scholarship & Internship provides a tuition-based cash award to an NYU student interested in music publishing who completes a full-time summer internship at Carlin America. The inaugural recipient of the award, Shane Ching, born in Canada and raised in Hong Kong is an accomplished musician who studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Trinity College of Music and is also a law school graduate who attended the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  He is now pursuing a graduate degree in Music Business at New York University and plans to do a summer internship at Carlin America.
