ASCAP Members Claim Four Oscar Music Nominations

In an announcement released on Tuesday morning, January 24th, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed the strength of the ASCAP repertory when it announced that four composers and songwriters licensed by the Society were in contention for Oscars at the 84th annual Academy Awards ceremony.

ASCAP composer Howard Shore's score to Hugo was nominated in the Original Score category. The score was also nominated for a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Movie Award and a BAFTA award. Shore has won three Oscars in the past for his music to The Lord of the Rings films.

The 2012 Oscars will be broadcast live on Sunday, February 26th at 7pm EST on ABC.
