In the 22 years since it began as a modest "summit on the song," the Folks Fest has grown and created its own culture and spirit, while remaining true to its initial vision for spending a glorious Colorado summer weekend celebrating stories and songs - from around the musical and geographic world. Nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, right beside the picturesque St. Vrain River, the Folks Fest grounds make for an ideal spot to relax and take in some of the finest acoustic music in the world.
The 2012 Folks Fest is packed with ASCAP talent including Holly Near, Neko Case, Lyle Lovett & His Large Band, Darrell Scott, Gretchen Peters, Peter Himmelman, Kasey Chambers and more.
ASCAP will sponsor the always-anticipated Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase, a nationally-recognized competition for emerging singer-songwriter talent (last year's winner, ASCAP member Caleb Hawley, will be performing on the main stage during the Folks Fest). We'll also be on hand to lead an informal discussion about the music business at the annual Song School, occurring in the days before the Folks Fest begins.
