Ravel Study Group is an informal monthly gathering of composers and musicians interested in studying scores from great composers past and present. The first hour is score study, followed by a presentation by a guest composer. Stick around after for a drink!
For January 20th, we will be looking at Ravel's "Daphnis and Chloe Orchestral Suites #1 and #2." We will be using the Dover edition (make sure to avoid buying the full ballet score). It is available online - limited copies are in stock at the Juilliard Bookstore as well. The guest composer will be Bill Sherman (Music Director for Sesame Street, 2008 Tony Award Winner Best Orchestrations for In the Heights).
