Louise Goffin’s parents are songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin. After her father’s passing, Louise worked with his longtime collaborator, Barry Goldberg, on an EP of rarely heard songs that Gerry co-wrote. On Tuesday, January 27th, ASCAP hosted its annual Composer-Filmmaker Cocktail Party, an exclusive after-show event at the Sundance ASCAP Music Cafe in Park City, Utah.

After an exciting opening weekend, the Sundance ASCAP Music Café continued to deliver musical thrills on days 4 and 5 of its eight-day run run with performances by Dylan Gardner, Baskery, Leon Bridges, Rainey Qualley, John Fullbright and more.

The 2015 Sundance ASCAP Music Café kicked off with a musical bang on Friday, January 23rd with an exciting mix of heavy rock ’n’ roll (Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts), foot-stomping Americana (Jamestown Revival), moody lounge music (The Duchess and the Fox, featuring Joe McGinty and Andrea Diaz) and more.

The 17th annual Sundance ASCAP Music Café presents a dynamic mix of emerging and established songwriters and artists, all curated by ASCAP. In addition, the invitation-only ASCAP Composer-Filmmaker Cocktail Party offers a great opportunity for filmmakers and music creators to connect. We'll see you in Park City!

The title character of Mortdecai may be a bumbling art dealer, but he's got an impeccable soundtrack for his misadventures in the funky, zany collaborative score from ASCAP composer Geoff Zanelli and it-producer Mark Ronson. We asked Zanelli about the particulars of the film's madcap music.

Shuying Li wins the $5000 ASCAP/CBDNA Frederick Fennell Prize for young composers of concert band music for her wind ensemble work, “Slippery Slope.”

Today, ASCAP announced that Elizabeth Matthews has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of the organization, which represents more than 520,000 music creators. Matthews, who has served as EVP and General Counsel at ASCAP since 2013, was a unanimous choice among the board’s 12 songwriter and 12 publisher members.

ASCAP songwriter member Ervin Drake, whose prolific catalog of hits includes “It Was a Very Good Year,” “I Believe,” “Perdido” and “Good Morning Heartache,” passed away at his home on January 15th in Great Neck, NY following a long illness. He was 95 years old.
